We believe that our traps made from the higher-end wire are simply superior in every way to the cheaper hardware cloth traps. DIMENSIONS: The dimensions are approximately 2 ft (length) x 2 ft (height) x 11.5 in (width), with the four fish entry points being 1 in by 3 in each. This trap is legal on most public lakes, but be sure to check your local regulations before ordering.
How to Use Your Z-Perch Trap
- Select the Right Location – Look for areas with high baitfish activity. Trees, grass lines, and laydowns are all great areas to use your trap.
- Bait the Trap *(optional) – Using a mesh bait bag, old sock, and even some cheap pantyhose (yes, pantyhose)... make a "tube" out of bread, dog food, or other attractants and toss it inside your trap. Baiting the trap is optional, but will help you catch more fish during the colder months when they are not as active.
- Set the Trap in Water – Place it near structure or vegetation for best results.
- Check Periodically – Allow time for fish to enter and remove your catch when ready.

We have a 1/4 acre mud koi pond that has been taken over by bluegill fish. It's gotten to the point that the bluegill aren't letting any food get to our koi and I have finally had enough. For the 1st 5 days using the Z bait trap, we didn't even use bait and we would get 15+ bluegill each time, several times a day. By the end of the week, the bluegill were getting smarter and we had to find a netting bag to place fish food in so that we could twist tie it to the inner cage. Worked fantastic! We are 284 and counting and have only had the Z bait trap for a little over a week. The opening is too small for our round koi, so our pets can't get into the trap. This trap has made me so happy to have a tool to take back our pond. We got the PVC coating version so that we can use this trap for years. Thank you, Mike!
